That’s right, you read that correctly. Landing pages aren’t just for pay-per-click! A landing page strategy is good all around for most of your online marketing tactics. Today, though, we’re going to concentrate on landing pages for Twitter. Oh yes, the dreaded twitter, the buzz topic of the year. Micro-blogging is where it’s at and you should take advantage of every connection you can make with your Twit friends. If you aren’t on Twitter, you might as well stop reading here and instead check out our Twitter 101 post: Tweeting like a pro, not like a Twit on Twitter.
It’s cheap. It’s easy. And, it’s targeted!
People often check out a person’s Twitter profile when they’re deciding whether or not to add a person to their follow list. They also may follow that link later when they discover worthy posts being tweeted by an individual or just because they’re curious!
So, when a person does click through to your website via your Twitter profile you better greet them right! Tell them a little bit more about you and/or your company but don’t overwhelm them. I’ve seen too many Twitter landing pages that are long, boring and lack the call-to-action format.
Try to include on your Twitter landing page:
- A Headline that welcomes them from Twitter
- A title that outlines your services
(For example, we use: Online Marketing: Pay-per-click, SEO, Viral Marketing & Web Design) - Brief 2-4 sentence bio of who you are
- A list of services that you offer; you can also highlight your availability to take on speaking engagements (try to link these to the appropriate descriptive pages on your website).
- Contact form or ensure your email is highlighted and accessible
