Pre-register a .Pro domain name for added SEO! (August 2008)

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Are you a lawyer, dentist, accountant or engineer or other professional and looking to buy a domain name?
Before you register one, consider the .pro extension. Here’s why:

What are .pro domains?
The pro-domains are an exclusive domain that are available for pre-registration now. All licensed and credentialed professionals and professional entities are eligible to pre-register pro-domains. At this time, only members of the medical, legal, accounting and engineering professions, licensed in the United States, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom, are eligible to register a .Pro domain. Though, a .PRO domain is not restrictive; any business can register once the pre-registration period is over. If you have a business license, you are likely to be eligible to register a .pro domain.

Why buy a .pro domain?
Professionals spend years of schooling, training and preparation to pass exams and finally achieve a license to practice in their field of specialty. Along with maintaining their image and credibility through work experience, a professional must earn the trust of his/her client. This is easy to establish in person, but difficult to convey over the Internet. In the physical world, professionals and their clients can have private and confidential discussions, face to face or telephonically. To ensure trust online and conduct business with propriety, communications and transactions must remain private and secure. RegistryPro offers a way to solve this challenge with the new Top Level Domain (TLD) extension.

Internet Marketing Health Check

In my last article about internal linking strategy for search engine optimization, I spoke about how using keywords to link internally to your site not only helps visitors find what they’re looking for but also encourages Google to associate your site with those key phrases.

I digress.

I found this really cool free internal linking plugin for wordpress.

When you write/edit a post, you’ll see “Custom linked keywords for this post” section below the post area. That’s where you add your words and desired URL location.

Need help installing it? Or just need a blog? give us a yelp!.

Making a blog post? Don’t forget the internal linking SEO strategy!

One of the major elements of SEO that’s often undervalued is internal linking. When done right, internal linking not only encourages visitors to stay longer on your website, but more importantly, it can improve your search engine rankings.

So, content is key. Link within your content!

When websites link to other sites on the internet, search engines like Google and Yahoo pass value for the terms/ phrases used in the link “anchor text”. Anchor text is the highlighted text when your mouse hovers over a link. Often when people think about linking strategies, they focus on improving and increasing their number of inbound links and they pay special attention to what the anchor text communicates.

But this isn’t the only type of linking strategy you should count on. Rather, contextual *internal* links can also be effective in helping to improve a site’s ranking for certain keywords and phrases.
